EVENT SUMMARY
The 2nd Annual Rotary Kids Triathlon, proudly presented by the Rotary Club of Vero Beach, will be held at the Victor Hart Sr. Community Enhancement Complex in Vero Beach. This race will allow children between the ages of 6 – 13 to participate in a Swim, Bike, and Run multisport youth event that is geared for both 1st Time Triathletes and the seasoned competitive Triathlete.
All participants will receive an anklet with an electronic timing chip (so their split and total times can be accurately reported). In addition, each participant and their parent/guardian will receive a coded ID band for secure child pick-up in the Kid Corral, which is where the children will converge after crossing the Finish Line (see 5th Map under the Race Course Tab).
This race will also include a mixed RELAY TEAM CATEGORY in both the Junior and Senior Division. For example, children who are not comfortable with the Swim segment can either:
(i) be placed in the shallow part of the heated pool (with lifeguards in the water with them), where they have the option of walking the required distance on the bottom of the pool, or
(ii) register a Relay Team and have a friend or relative complete the Swim segment (and the same holds true if a child may be uncomfortable with the Run or Bike segment).
Under the race direction of Integrity Multisport, this event will be Safe, Fun, and Professional for all athletes using USA Triathlon rules and guidelines (however this is NOT a USAT Sanctioned event). Race Central and the Swim segment will be located at the Gifford Aquatic Center.
MAXIMUM of 300 PARTICIPANTS
[Note: In our inaugural event last year, we sold out to 200 children – so we suggest you register early, and be sure to take advantage of the Early Bird Discount! The $20 Early Bird Entry Fee increases to $35 after Nov. 1, 2024.]
DIVISIONS
Junior Division (Individual Athletes or Mixed Relay Teams) for Children Born in 2015 – 2018
Senior Division (Individual Athletes or Mixed Relay Teams) for Children Born in 2011 – 2014
Adaptive Individual Athletes for Children Born in 2011 – 2018
NOTE: Children are eligible to enroll in the Adaptive Individual Athlete Division if they have a physical disability or are recognized by their school as requiring Special Needs ESE (Exceptional Student Education) with an IEP (Individualized Education Program). Please contact us in advance to discuss any special needs of which you would like us to be aware so that our professional race management company is able to better accommodate them on Race Day.
FAMILY COMMUNITY DAY & RACE PREPARATION CLINICS
The December 7, 2024 Race Day has also been designated by Indian River County as Family Community Day. After the race, all youth participants as well their family and friends are able to swim for FREE the rest of the day at the Gifford Aquatic Center! Check back on this website for information to be posted on individual and multi-sport Swim, Bike and/or Run Clinics in the Spring, Summer and Fall. These clinics are for children only, and are a great way to prepare for the 2nd Annual Rotary Kids Triathlon!
You may also wish to plan an overnight stay in Vero Beach after the event, because every year on the same date is the Vero Beach Christmas Parade – which does not commence until 6:00pm (well after our Rotary Kids Triathlon has been completed).
